1947-1957 The Three Stooges One-Sheet Linen-Backed Movie Poster Collection (78) - Nearly Every Shemp Title!
Starting Bid - $10,000, Sold For - $30,000
Presented is the most extraordinary collection of Three Stooges posters to ever be offered as a single lot. This comprehensive advanced collection of seventy-eight posters, presented as a single lot at the request of our consignor, is a once-in-a-lifetime offering.
Unprecedented offering of seventy-eight Three Stooges one-sheet movie posters, representing seventy-six different titles, spanning the years 1947 to 1957. Incredibly, this collection features nearly every Three Stooges one-sheet poster issued featuring the team of Moe, Larry, and Shemp, with the exception of just three: Studio Stoops (1950), Income Tax Sappy (1954), and Hot Stuff (1956). The two titles represented twice in this collection are Sing a Song of Six Pants (1947) and Spooks! (1953; one was issued for the 3D version and the other for the wide-screen version). All of the posters are linen-backed and nearly all have benefitted from either minor or moderate restoration to common defects, such as tack hole, edge tears, and small tears along the fold lines. As a result, the posters average an overall Excellent to Mint appearance and are perfect for display, as intended. This is easily the largest single-lot offering of Three Stooges posters ever presented at auction and one that would be ideal for a collector looking to instantly acquire a world-class Three Stooges movie-poster collection or a dealer wishing to obtain a significant investment lot.
