1943 The Three Stooges A Gem of a Jam One-Sheet Linen-Backed Movie Poster
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $3,900
One-sheet movie poster issued for the 1943 Three Stooges short A Gem of a Jam. This was the Stooges' final film of 1943 and the plot involved the boys as janitors in a doctor's office who end up providing medical attention to a crook on the lam. Three Stooges one-sheets dating from the team's "golden age" (1934-1947; those featuring Curly as part of the trio) are not only the most desirable of all paper from their films, but also the rarest. Prior to this extraordinary offering by REA (which is being conducted over a number of auctions), we have seen fewer than twenty different-titled Three Stooges one-sheets from this early era offered at public auction in the past fifteen years. To put that number in proper perspective, it should be noted that the Stooges starred in ninety-seven shorts during that fourteen-year period. The poster (27 x 41.5 inches) is linen-backed and has benefitted from minor restoration, including repair to tears along the fold lines and the removal of a piece of tape along the right border. Excellent in appearance. Reserve $2,500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $3,900
