1941 The Three Stooges All The World's A Stooge One-Sheet Linen-Backed Movie Poster
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $6,600
One-sheet movie poster issued for the 1941 Three Stooges short All The World's A Stooge. In this short, their 55th for Columbia, the boys begin by passing themselves off as dentists, which ultimately leads to their posing as refugee children. Three Stooges one-sheets dating from the team's "golden age" (1934-1947; those featuring Curly as part of the trio) are not only the most desirable of all paper from their films, but also the rarest. Prior to this extraordinary offering by REA (which is being conducted over a number of auctions), we have seen fewer than twenty different-titled Three Stooges one-sheets from this early era offered at public auction in the past fifteen years. To put that number in proper perspective, it should be noted that the Stooges starred in ninety-seven shorts during that fourteen-year period. The poster (27.75 x 41 inches) is linen-backed and has benefitted from minor restoration, including repair to a number of tack holes and a few tears along the fold lines. Excellent in appearance. Reserve $2,500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $6,600
