1970 Neil Armstrong Signed Dinner Program
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $960
Circular program, issued at the "18th Annual Airlines Ball - Honoring Neil Armstrong/Aviation Man of the Decade," signed by Neil Armstrong on the reverse. The front of the two-sided program features an image of earth as seen from the surface of the moon, along with the itinerary for the evening and a list of the sponsors. The reverse is blank. Armstrong's signature has been boldly scripted in blue ink and grades "10." This is a very rare and interesting Neil Armstrong signed item and we can only recall having seen two other examples. Research indicates that the 18th Annual Airlines Ball took place on October 24, 1970, little more than a year after Armstrong took "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." The program (8 inches in diameter) displays two tiny tack holes and a few minor creases. In Very Good to Excellent condition. Together with a ticket stub to the event (4.5 x 2.5 inches; Vg-Ex). Total: 2 items (program and ticket stub). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $500++. SOLD FOR $960
