1923 Harry Houdini Signed Letter

One-page typed letter, dated May 25, 1923, on official "The Society of American Magicians" letterhead, signed by legendary magician and escape artist Harry Houdini. The brief letter, written to Mr. Richard Van Dien of Jersey City, New Jersey, concerns the delivery of souvenirs. In full: "Dear Van Dien: - Be sure and send those Armand souvenirs at your earliest convenience ... so that everything is ready. Regards, Sincerely Yours." It is signed simply "Houdini" in black fountain pen (grading "9"). Houdini has added the following notation below his signature "Just arrived ok. Thanks." Richard Van Dien was a former president of The Society of American Magicians (1915-1917) . The letter (8.5 x 11 inches) displays one horizontal and two vertical folds, two tiny corner chips (upper right and lower left), a tiny edge tear, and two small pieces of mounting tape on the reverse top border. In Very Good to Excellent condition. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,440
