1985 Topps Football Cut-Card Case

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,680

Outstanding original cut-card case of 1985 Topps football cards. Cut-card cases were assembled by Topps using pristine cards directly from the factory which were then arranged in tightly packed rows inside of a plain cardboard box. A typical cut-card case contains more than 8,000 cards. This method of distribution spared the cards from exposure to gum or wax inside of packs and generally yields some of the finest cards available from a given year. The 1985 Topps football set is particularly condition sensitive due to its delicate black borders, and many of the cards in this case are likely deserving of Mint or Gem Mint grades. Our understanding is that cut-card cases are comprised of cards from a specific sheet or series, and not all cards from a set will be found within a single cut-card case. The offered case is labeled "A," which likely refers to the series from which it originates. As with unopened material, no guarantees can be made to the professional grading of the cards from this case, but it would appear to us that it is full of many, many candidates for ultra high grades from PSA. Important Note: We have removed the cards from this cut-card case and rehoused them inside of 800-count boxes to allow for maximum protection during storage and shipping. Prior to doing this, we observed extremely consistent factory packing of each row of cards as is to be expected with cut-card cases. Although we cannot guarantee it, the cards did not appear to us to have ever been touched or disturbed prior to this (as cut-card cases are not sealed in the manner of wax or cello cases). This cut-card case is being sold as is, with the understanding that at the very minimum it offers thousands and thousands of ultra high-grade cards from the extremely popular 1985 Topps football set. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,680
