Muhammad Ali Autographed Boxing Gloves and 16 x 20 Photo

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,320

Pair of vintage boxing gloves signed by Muhammad Ali, together with a large-format Ali signed photo. 1) Pair of vintage Everlast boxing gloves. The right-hand glove has been signed and dated by Ali in black marker (grading "8/9"), "Muhammad Ali/6-20-87." As noted by the date, these gloves originate from an early Muhammad Ali signing, when his signature style was still largely unaffected by Parkinson's disease, an affliction which has precluded him from signing anything over the last few years. The gloves display moderate wear, including a minor abrasion affecting Ali's last name. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. 2) Large-format photo. The 16 x 20-inch color photo captures Ali triumphantly standing over Sonny Liston after knocking him out in the first round of their epic rematch on May 25, 1965, in Lewiston, Maine. This image, taken by noted sports photographer Neil Leifer, is considered by many to be the greatest photographic image in sports history. Flawlessly signed by Ali in gold paint pen (grading "10") on the front. Near Mint condition. Total: 2 signed items (pair of boxing gloves and photo). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,320
