Muhammad Ali Rare Large-Signature Display Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,280

Collection of three large-format display pieces, each featuring an enormous Muhammad Ali signature example professionally matted together with a color photo taken by noted photographer John Stewart (produced by our consignor from the original negative). All of these signature examples and photographs originate from an unspecified 1977 promotional project that never came to fruition (see our extended website description for the complete history of these pieces). These are naturally extraordinary for display, as intended by Muhammad Ali. Two of the Ali signatures measure 12 inches in length, while the third measures 14 inches. Two of the photos (15.5 x 15.5 inches) are identical and picture Ali wearing a white shirt while striking a fighting stance. The other photo (12 x 16 inches) captures Ali wearing a black shirt with his arms folded. All of the signatures have been boldly scripted and grade "9/10." One of the signature sheets (paired with the photo of Ali in the black shirt) displays a one-inch diagonal tear descending from the top border; otherwise all of the sheets are in Excellent condition overall. The photos are all in apparent Mint condition. Each matted display piece measures 20 x 24 inches. Total: 3 signed displays. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,280
