1948 Bowman Basketball #21 Andrew Levane PSA MINT 9 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $600

Graded MINT 9 by PSA (submitted by REA). Exceptional ultra high-grade example of #21 Andrew "Fuzzy" Levane from the 1948 Bowman basketball set. The 1948 Bowman Basketball series is particularly significant as this was the first set ever issued devoted exclusively to basketball. It was also the only basketball set Bowman ever produced. Cards from this set are extremely hard to find in high grade in part because these cards (like 1949 Bowman baseball) often naturally have soft corners due to the quality of the paper stock on which they are printed. A grade of MINT 9 is remarkable as only 210 cards in total have ever graded MINT 9 or higher from this issue out of 8,340 cards submitted to PSA to date (an incredible 2.5%)! The offered example is one of six at this level, with none higher. It is perfectly bright and clean, with bold colors, flawless registration, perfect centering, and four sharp corners. This is a tremendous ultra high-grade example worthy of the world's finest 1948 Bowman basketball set!
