1971 Topps Football Complete Set (263) Plus 1971 Topps Football Game Set (53)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,700

56% Nr/Mt or better and 44% Ex to Ex-Mt (with a few lesser). Presented is an extremely attractive complete set of 1971 Topps football consisting of 263 different cards. Also included is a complete 53-card 1971 Topps Game set plus four 1971 Topps Pin-Ups. The colored flush-to-the-border design of the 1971 Topps football set makes this issue particularly challenging to collect in extremely high grade. This classic set features all the stars of the era, including rookie cards of Hall of Famers Terry Bradshaw, Joe Greene, Ken Houston, and Willie Lanier, and stars such as Johnny Unitas, Dick Butkus, Bart Starr, Fran Tarkenton, Gayle Sayers, and Joe Namath. We have selected three cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #1 Unitas (Ex-Mt+), 3 Schottenheimer RC (Nr/Mt), 25 Butkus (Nr/Mt), 45 Csonka (Nr/Mt+), 113 Houston RC (Nr/Mt+), 114 Lanier RC (Nr/Mt), 120 Tarkenton (Ex-Mt), 150 Sayers (Nr/Mt+), 156 Bradshaw RC (NM+ 86), 160 Griese (Nr/Mt), 188 Wehrli RC (Ex+), 200 Starr (Ex), 210 Sanders RC (Ex-Mt), 245 Greene RC (NM 84), and 250 Namath (NM 84). Condition of the game cards is Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt, with eight lesser and condition of the pin-ups is Ex. Almost all of the cards graded Ex or Ex-Mt have been downgraded entirely due to centering issues, which are common for cards from this year. All cards are crisp, clean, and appear pack-fresh with only a few exceptions. Consigned from an old-time collection, this set has been carefully stored for decades! A beautiful high-grade complete set of this popular football issue. Total: 320 cards (complete set of 263 cards plus 53 game cards and 4 pin-ups). Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+.
