1947 Cass Michaels Chicago White Sox Game-Used Road Jersey

Chicago White Sox road jersey worn by infielder Cass Michaels during the 1947 season. The gray flannel jersey, with zipper front, is lettered "Chicago" across the front and features the number "7" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in blue on red felt. Located in the collar are a "MacGregor 42" label and both the player's name and uniform number ("Michaels 7") chain-stitched in red upon a white strip tag. The set number and year ("2 '47") are chain-stitched in red upon a white strip tag that appears on the interior right-front tail. The entire lettering on the front has been restored, otherwise the jersey is original as issued, with no other alterations. The zipper is in working order. Moderate wear is displayed throughout. Cass Michaels, whose real name was Casimir Eugene Kwietniewski, appeared in 110 games with the White Sox in 1947, finishing the year with 3 home runs, 34 RBI, and a .273 batting average. A two-time All Star, he retired after the 1954 season with a .262 lifetime average. 1940s Major League flannel jerseys are scarce, and this is only the second 1947 Chicago White Sox jersey we have ever offered.
