1962 New York Yankees World Series/Shell Oil Company Advertising Pin - Extreme Rarity!

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $960

Presented is an extreme rarity in the world of New York Yankees and World Series pinback collecting: a 1962 Shell Oil Company advertising pin issued in conjunction with the 1962 World Series in support of the New York Yankees. This is the first example of this extremely rare pin that we have ever seen, let alone offered at auction. This large-format pin (3.5 inches in diameter) features bold blue text set against a white background which reads "I'm Rootin' For The Unbeatable Bronx Bombers New York Yankees - Shell Oil Company - 1962 World Series." The New York Yankees' trademark logo sits near the bottom of the pin. This pin has survived in exceptional condition, with crisp printing and virtually no wear to the surface. The reverse of the pin is intact, with very light normal oxidation around the edges (mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy). The New York Yankees dominated the American League in 1962, propelled by powerful performances from Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris at the plate and Whitey Ford and Ralph Terry on the mound. They won the 1962 World Series in seven games over the National League's powerhouse San Francisco Giants squad. This is a tremendous rarity worthy of any world-class advertising, World Series, or New York Yankees pinback collection. From the personal collection of Dr. Paul Muchinsky, legendary pioneer collector and author of Baseball Pinback Buttons: A Photographically Illustrated Compendium and Price Guide. Diameter: 3.5 inches. Near Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $960
