Collection of three original news photos, each capturing Babe Ruth in either 1927 or 1928. 1) 1927 International Newsreel photo capturing Babe Ruth signing a three-year contract with the New York Yankees as team owner Jacob Ruppert and general manager Ed Barrow look on. The original paper news caption, dated 3/2/27, is taped to the reverse. The photo (10 x 8 inches) displays a heavy horizontal crease along the top border and a few minor edge tears, two of which have been repaired on the reverse with clear tape. Gd-Vg. 2) 1927 International Newsreel photo capturing Babe Ruth in street clothes at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh after the first game of the World Series. The original paper news caption, dated "10-6," remains affixed to the reverse. The photo (8 x 10 inches) displays tears with paper loss in all four corners and light creasing. Gd. 3) 1928 Wide World Photo capturing Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig on the field at Yankee Stadium as they greet the German crew of the Bremen (the German crew duplicated Lindbergh's transatlantic flight, but going east to west). The original paper news caption, dated 5/6/28, remains affixed to the reverse. The photo (10 x 8 inches) displays a number of light creases. Vg. Total: 3 photos. Reserve $300. Estimate $1,000+.
