1930s Walter Johnson Baseball Game (Extremely Rare Brown Version)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $480
Second version of the Walter Johnson Base Ball Game, issued during the 1930s. Although this is the second version of this game (as even a glance by any game or memorabilia collector will confirm), this 1930s version is actually far rarer than the original first edition, which was produced during the early 1920s. In fact, this is the first example of this extremely rare game we have ever seen! The box cover of this game is particularly fascinating as it features a photo of Walter Johnson holding the original 1920s game box. The game includes the playing field, a metal spinner (the cap unscrews and holds the player pieces), five metal "player" pieces, the directions, and a blank score sheet. The interior components display normal wear and are in Excellent condition overall. The box (10 x 14 x 2 inches) displays two split corner flaps on the lid, as well as general wear and a few light stains. In Good to Very Good condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
