1929 Jimmie Foxx Original Photo - PSA/DNA Type 1 - Image Used For His 1933 Tattoo Orbit Card and 1934 Butterfinger Premuim

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $840

Original press photo of Hall of Fame slugger Jimmie Foxx as a member of the Philadelphia A's. Accompanied by an LOA from PSA/DNA certifying it as a "Type 1 Original Photograph." This is a famous image of Foxx and one that is instantly recognizable to collectors because it was used for both Foxx's 1933 Tattoo Orbit baseball card and his 1934 Butterfinger premium. Reverse markings include an "American League Service Bureau" credit stamp and an "Oct 15 1929" date stamp. 1929 was Foxx's second full season in the Majors and represented his "breakout" year. "The Beast" batted .354 with 33 home runs and 118 RBI to help lead the A's to their first of two consecutive World Championships. The year also marked the first of twelve consecutive seasons in which he would hit 30 or more home runs. He finished his career with 534 home runs, 1,922 RBI, and a lifetime .325 batting average. The photo (5 x 7 inches) displays a moderate vertical crease to the right of Foxx's image that runs completely between the top and bottom borders as well as light rippling and editorial outlining. In Very Good condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $840
