1926 Original New York Yankees Team News Photo - PSA/DNA Type 1
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $960
Original news photo capturing the 1926 American League Champion New York Yankees in a classic team pose. Accompanied by an LOA from PSA/DNA certifying it as an "Original Type 1 News Service Photograph." Pictured here posing together in front of the grandstands at Yankee Stadium are thirty-two team members, including Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Miller Huggins (Mgr.), Herb Pennock, and Waite Hoyt. A "Wide World Photos" credit stamp appears on the reverse. The Yankees were defeated by the Cardinals in seven games in the 1926 World Series, but the roster seen here was basically the same one that captured consecutive World Championships in the following two seasons. The photo (10 x 8 inches) displays a slight trim along the left border (not affecting the main image) as well as a few tiny border tears and light surface wrinkles. Remnants of the original paper news caption are evident on the reverse. In Very Good condition overall. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,500+. SOLD FOR $960
