1909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel SGC-Graded Hall of Fame Collection (4)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,160
Collection of four high-quality cards from the classic 1909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel set featuring three Hall of Famers and "Black Sox" star Eddie Cicotte. All four cards have each been graded and encapsulated by SGC. The 25-card E95 set was issued in 1909 by the Philadelphia Caramel Co. of Camden, New Jersey. This set is of even greater significance than many other caramel-card issues in that the E95 artwork was not reissued by other manufacturers, a widespread practice with other “E” card issues. The designs used in E95 are unique to the set. This collection consists of the following: Ed Cicotte (VG/EX 50, Boston Red Sox), Eddie Collins (VG 40, Philadelphia Athletics), Eddie Plank (VG/EX 50, Philadelphia Athletics), and Vic Willis (VG/EX+ 55, Pittsburgh Pirates). This is a very attractive group of Hall of Famers (and one "Black Sox" star) from one of the era's most popular sets. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades is $2,170. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,160
