1919 Roger Bresnahan Signed Official Yankee Transfer Document
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $2,400
One-page "Uniform Agreement for Transfer of a Player to or by a Major League Club, " dated December 27, 1919, between the American League Base Ball Club of New York and the Toledo Baseball Company. It has been flawlessly signed by Hall of Famer "Roger P. Bresnahan" ("10"), in his capacity as president of the Toledo Baseball Club, and also by "Jacob Ruppert" ("9") as president of the New York Americans. The fully executed document memorializes the transfer of player Cliff Markle from the Yankees to Toledo "for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty-five Hundred Dollars." Roger Bresnahan (1879-1944) is a very rare, early Hall of Famer signature. Fortunately, because he served as a baseball executive with Toledo, official documents signed by him in that capacity occasionally surface. The document (8.5 x 14 inches) displays three horizontal folds and two tiny edge tears. In Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $2,400
