1925 Miller Huggins Signed Baseball Stock Certificate
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,700
St. Paul Base Ball Club, Inc., stock certificate, for sixty shares of capital stock, issued to and signed on the reverse in black fountain pen (grading "9/10") by Hall of Fame manager Miller Huggins. Huggins has signed the certificate in the area reserved for the future transfer of the stock. While none of the additional transfer information has been filled in, a black ink notation written across the front reads "Feby 4th 1925/Transferred/R. J. Connery." The certificate, numbered "15," is dated January 8, 1925, and has been signed on the front by both the president and secretary of the club (each name is now crossed out). The raised company seal appears in the lower left corner. The signature of Miller Huggins is extremely rare due to his untimely death in 1929 at the age of fifty. The fact that this is both a legal document and baseball related make this a particularly rare and ideal signed Miller Huggins piece. The certificate (10.75 x 8.25 inches) has two vertical folds, a small area of discoloration in the upper left corner, and a tiny area of surface-paper loss in the lower left corner, all very minor faults. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA.
