Harmon Killebrew Half Bat Signed by the 1959 Washington Senators
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $600
Harmon Killebrew pro-model bat, signed in black ink by the following thirty members of the 1959 Washington Senators: Killebrew, Samford, Becquer, Lavagetto (Mgr.), Allison, Courtney, Versalles, Clary (coach), Consolo, Beck (coach), Lemon, Aspromonte, Korcheck, Griggs, Woodeshick, Lentz (team trainer), Hyde, Kemmerer, Throneberry, Green, Naragon, Ramos, Pascual, Fischer, Mele (coach), Clevenger, Stobbs, Bertoia, Sievers, and one other (illegible). All of the signatures have been boldly scripted and grade "9" or "10." The bat, which dates from the 1950 to 1961 manufacturing period, has been neatly cut in half lengthwise, but one can still make out the model number on the knob ("D2"). Also visible on the knob is a portion of Killebrew's uniform number ("3), which is handwritten in red paint. The bat (35 inches in length) displays no visible signs of use and lacks any finish. A number of handwritten notations appear on the reverse, flat-side of the bat, including a few erroneous ones describing this as a 1960 Senators team-signed bat. (The combination of names here conclusively dates it to the 1959 season.) Team-signed bats, for any club, are rare and this is an exceptional example dating from the franchise's penultimate season in Washington. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $600
