1958 and 1963 Elston Howard Signed Topps Contracts (2) and 1961 Topps Check

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $720

Collection of four Elston Howard signed items, all of which are related to his Topps baseball cards, including two contracts and a check. Also included is a 1964 Topps Giants card of Elston Howard. 1-2) Two one-page Topps contracts, dated, respectively, 6/3/58 and 5/14/63, between Topps Chewing Gum Inc., and Elston Howard. Each signed by "Elston Howard" in blue ink (grading "10" on the 1958 contract and "7" on the 1963 contract) and a Topps executive. Both contracts are renewals of the 1956 agreement Howard signed with Topps, which allowed Topps the right to use Howard's image on a baseball card. Each contract measures 8.5 x 11 inches. The 1958 contract is in Excellent condition, with a few staple holes along the top and a light corner crease in the upper left. The 1963 contract displays tape residue along the reverse top border (resulting from its having been previously matted), as well as a few staple holes; otherwise it is in Excellent condition. 3) Topps check, dated May 19, 1961, endorsed by Elston Howard in blue ink ("7") on the reverse. The check is made out to "Elston G. Howard" in the amount of $75 and bears a stamped signature of a Topps executive along the base. The check (8.5 x 3.25 inches) features both bank cancellation perforations and stamps (with two stamps having been applied on top of Howard's signature), as well as a moderate vertical fold. In Excellent condition overall. 4) 1964 Topps Giants Elston Howard #21. Signed by Howard in blue ink ("8") across the front. Ex-Mt. Total: 4 items (2 contracts, check, and card). LOA from James Spence/JSA.  Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $720
