Circa 1935 Baseball Autograph Book Including Wagner (twice), Traynor, Ott, and the Waner Brothers - PSA/DNA

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,680

This small autograph album, dating from the 1930s, features forty-nine signatures of major league baseball players, eleven of which are Hall of Famers, including Honus Wagner twice. Based upon the players represented here, this book was almost certainly compiled during the 1930s, probably over the course of a few seasons. The first twenty-five signatures in the album are scripted in pencil, while the remaining twenty-four signatures are in either blue or black fountain pen. Four of the signatures (duly noted in our listing) appear alone on a single album page (including Ott, Terry, and Hubbell), while all of the rest appear together with those of one or more other players. The signatures range from "8" to "10," averaging "9." The number of signatures for each player, if signed more than once, is noted in parentheses. Pencil Signatures (25): Russell Bauers, Ralph Birkofer, Cy Blanton, Mace Brown, Earle Browne, Guy Bush, Hal Finney, Bud Hafey (2), Bill Hinchman, Woody Jensen, Fred Schulte, Clarence Struss, Jack Tising (2), Al Todd, Pie Traynor, Arky Vaughan, Honus Wagner (2), Lloyd Waner, Paul Waner, Jim Weaver, Lefty Woodill, and Floyd Young. Ink Signatures (24): Earl Averill, Tom Baker, Dick Bartell, Bruce Campbell, Clyde Castleman, Lou Chiozzo, Harry Danning, Bob Feller, Harry Gumbert, Odell Hale, Mickey Haslin, Jeff Heath, Carl Hubbell (alone on a sheet), Lyn Lary, Cliff Melton, Mel Ott (alone on a sheet), Don Padgett (alone on a sheet), Jimmie Ripple, Lloyd Russell, Frank Snyder, J. Solters, Bill Terry (alone on a sheet), Hal Trosky, and Earl Whitehill. The soft-cover album (6.25 x 4.5 inches) is in Excellent condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and LOA from James Spence/JSA.
