1910 E222 A. W. H. Caramels (Virginia League) Bock Hooker Plus T209 Contentnea & T210 Old Mill
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $5,100
Outstanding trio of cards featuring Bock Hooker of the Virgina League in three highly regarded Southern issues, including a sample card from one of the rarest of all "E" card sets, catalogued E222, issued in 1910 by the A. W. H. Caramel Company. Each card is graded and encapsulated by SGC. 1) 1910 E222 A. W. H. Caramel: Hooker with Lynchburg, graded GOOD 30, due to light creasing visible from the reverse. Otherwise clean advertising back, centered to the left. This card is all the more interesting in that the pose of Hooker is the very same as that which appears on his T206 baseball card. This is an extremely rare sample card; to date, only seventeen examples from the set (of all players!) have been graded by SGC and PSA combined. 2) 1910 T209 Contentnea Cigarettes: Hooker with Danville, graded FAIR 20, with a crisp image, light stray print on front, and a bold advertising reverse. 3) 1910 T210 Old Mill Cigarettes: Hooker with Danville, graded POOR 10, due to two unobtrusive pinholes at top and bottom. Otherwise Vg, with bold colors and a clean back. This is a superb trio of three desirable 1910-era cards of Bock Hooker, highlighted by an attractive, ideal sample card from one of the rarest of all 1910-era card sets, E222 A. W. H. Caramel. Total: 3 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $5,100
