1903 W600 Sporting Life Cabinet Roger Bresnahan - Rookie
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,320
Presented is a very attractive, yet modestly graded example of Hall of Famer Roger Bresnahan in uniform from the very popular W600 Sporting Life cabinet-card set, issued in 1903. Two variations of Bresnahan (both in uniform) were issued in W600: one with a New York team designation (1903) and one with a St. Louis team designation (1909). The offered example is the earlier "New York" variation and is considered by many to be Roger Bresnahan's true rookie card. Graded PR-FR 1 by PSA due to an unobtrusive pinhole in the center of the top border, the card is otherwise bright and crisp, with a strong image, outstanding centering, and even wear at the four corners. A few tiny surface imperfections are visible only under close inspection. The blank reverse is mostly clean, with a few scattered marks near the top. Strong Very Good appearance overall, without reference to the pinhole. W600 Sporting Life cabinet cards were available only by mail. They are universally recognized as among the most substantial and highest-quality baseball-card sets ever issued. This is a superb example of one of Roger Bresnahan’s most majestic cards, and one that would be a significant addition to any world-class W600, Hall of Fame, or prewar-card collection. Reserve $300. Estimate $500++. SOLD FOR $1,320
