1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $15,600
Graded VG 40 by SGC. Extremely attractive example of 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Mantle's Topps rookie card is the key to the 1952 Topps set, one of the most famous of all cards, and the single most popular and valuable postwar baseball card. This is a magnificent example with brilliant colors, a near-flawless blue background, bright white borders, and centering slightly to the top. Light touches of honest wear to each of the four corners (slightly more to the upper left). A very faint crease present in the upper right, measuring less than one inch, is responsible for the modest assigned grade. This is a tremendous mid-grade example with exceptionally strong visual appeal. The 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle has long been universally recognized as one of most iconic "blue chips" of all vintage baseball cards, and even just a glance at sales records clearly shows that over the years it has consistently risen in value in all grades. This card presents an outstanding opportunity to acquire an exceptionally attractive example of Mickey Mantle's most celebrated card in an extremely desirable condition, yet very possibly at a small fraction of the cost of a higher-grade example. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+++. SOLD FOR $15,600
