1953 Bowman Black & White PSA-Graded Complete Set (64)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $960

Complete 1953 Bowman Black & White 64-card set. Fifty-four of the cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA. The unusual Bowman Black & White set is by far the scarcer of the two 1953 Bowman baseball issues. PSA Grading Composite: EX-MT+ 6.5 (1 card): #27 Lemon (HOF). EX-MT 6 (4 cards): #1 Bell, 39 Stengel (HOF), 52 Branca, and 61. EX 5 (10 cards): #2, 4, 12, 14, 33, 54, 60, 62 (MC), 63, and 64. VG-EX+ 4.5 (1 card): #43. VG-EX 4 (14 cards): #3, 6, 9, 15 Mize (HOF), 25 Sain, 28 Wilhelm (HOF), 30, 32 (MK), 34, 42, 47, 51 Burdette, 53, and 59. VG 3 (1 card): #13. GOOD+ 2.5 (3 cards): #5, 7, and 21. GOOD 2 (20 cards): #8, 11, 16, 19, 20, 23, 24, 26 Roe, 29, 31 Woodling, 35, 38, 41, 44, 45, 46, 48, 50, 55, and 57. Ungraded (10 cards): #10, 17, 18, 22, 36, 37, 40, 49, 56, and 58. The condition of the ten ungraded cards is Vg or lesser. The 1953 Bowman Black & White set gets less attention than the 1953 Bowman Color set because it is a smaller set and has fewer stars (and there is no Mantle) but in the "old days" of collecting, the 1953 Bowman Black & White cards were far more desirable to many collectors, and were appreciated for their greater rarity, more so than in modern collecting times. This is a relatively affordable complete set of this classic issue! Total: 64 cards.  Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $960
