1951 Bowman Partial Set (219/324)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,400

Extremely attractive mid- to high-grade partial set of 1951 Bowman baseball cards consisting of 219 different cards (out of 324) and highlighted by more than twenty Hall of Famers, including Ted Williams, Bob Feller, Roy Campanella, and Whitey Ford (rookie). This is an extremely consistent set, grading 58% Ex-Mt to Nr/Mt, 37% Ex, and 5% lesser (mostly Vg to Vg-Ex). Twenty-five cards are professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (eight of which were submitted by REA, including Williams and Feller). Keys: #1 Ford RC (EX 5), 3 Roberts (Ex), 7 Hodges (EX+ 5.5), 10 Schoendienst (Nr/Mt), 26 Rizzuto (Vg-Ex+), 30 Feller (NM 7), 31 Campanella (Vg), 32 Snider (NM 7), 46 Kell (Vg-Ex), 50 Mize (Ex-Mt), 53 Lemon (Nr/Mt), 62 Boudreau (Ex-Mt+), 78 Wynn (Ex-Mt), 81 Furillo (NM+ 7.5), 134 Spahn (NM 7), 143 Kluszewski (Ex+), 151 Doby (EX-MT 6), 165 Williams (NM 7), 198 Irvin RC (Ex-Mt), 207 Southworth (NM 7), 232 Fox RC (EX 5), 233 Durocher (Ex+), 254 Jensen (Ex-Mt+), 275 Harris (Ex-Mt), and 290 Dickey (Ex-Mt+). Other Graded Cards: #20 (EX 5), 38 (NM 7), 64 (EX 5), 77 (NM 7), 106 (NM+ 7.5), 117 (NM 7), 138 (EX-MT 6), 153 (EX-MT 6), 156 (NM 7), 159 (NM 7), 194 (NM 7), 203 (EX 5), 211 (NM 7), 247 (EX-MT 6), and 321 (EX-MT 6). This is a very attractive set! One of the great things about card collecting is that the most classic card sets can be collected in any condition, on any budget. There is always an extremely strong demand for classic vintage sets that are extremely impressive yet are still relatively affordable. This is a very consistent mid- to high-grade set which offers a potentially outstanding collecting value and represents a rarely offered, far more affordable (yet still overall remarkably high-grade and exceptional) alternative to a much higher-grade set of this classic early 1950s Bowman issue. The total SMR value for just the twenty-five graded cards is $2,517. Total: 219 cards.  Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000++. SOLD FOR $5,400
