1948 W464 Baseball's Great Hall of Fame Exhibits Complete SGC-Graded Set (33)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $840

Complete 33-card set of 1948 Hall of Fame Exhibits, entirely graded and encapsulated by SGC. These unnumbered black-and-white (in some cases green-tint) Exhibit cards feature all-time great Hall of Famers, and no doubt instilled a great appreciation of baseball history in youngsters of the day. The 1948 Hall of Fame Exhibit cards were issued on cardboard stock and each card has the player's brief biography printed along the bottom. The set is naturally highlighted by many of the great legends of the game. SGC Grading Composite: One NM/MT 88: Tinker. Four NM+ 86: Bresnahan, Chance, E. Collins, and Sisler. Seven NM 84: Johnson, Lajoie, Mathewson, Speaker, Waddell, Wagner, and Young. Two EX/NM+ 82: Chesbro and Keeler. Seven EX/NM 80: Cochrane, Evers, Frisch, Hornsby, Mack, Plank, and Ruth/batting. Eight EX+ 70: Cobb, Duffy, Gehrig, Griffith, Grove, Hubbell, McGraw, and Walsh. Four EX 60: Alexander, Clarke, Jennings, and Ruth/standing with bats. This set was reproduced in 1977 and the reproductions (which are printed in various colors) sometimes cause confusion. This is a very attractive and overall extremely high-grade complete original 1948 set of this classic and often overlooked Exhibit Supply Company issue. Total: 33 cards.  Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $840
