1939-1946 W462 Salutation Exhibits Partial Set (52/83) Including Short Prints

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $720

Presented is an outstanding partial set of W462 Salutation Exhibits consisting of fifty-two out of the eighty-three cards in the set as checklisted in The Standard Catalog. This partial set is highlighted by several of the very scarce short prints, including the Ted Williams (#9 on back) variation. These unnumbered cards are not dated and were issued over a series of years (1939-1946), so they are generally collected as a single set. Some cards in this Exhibit-card series were issued for numerous years, while other players were issued for only a short period of time, thus creating many rarities. Because they have the player's signature and a "salutation" scripted at the bottom, they are often referred to as "Salutation Exhibits." The rarities in this set make the assembly of a complete set one of the most difficult of all Exhibit-card sets. Condition is 50% Vg to Vg-Ex and 50% lesser. Keys: Dean (Fr), DiMaggio (Vg-Ex), Feller/pitching (Vg-Ex), Foxx (Vg-Ex+), Gehringer (Vg+), Greenberg/Very truly yours (Vg-Ex), Hartnett (Fr), Holmes/Sincerely yours (Pr), Klein (Pr/Fr), Kreevich (Gd), Lombardi/Cordially (Vg-Ex+), Mulcahy (Fr/Gd), Vander Meer (Vg+), and Williams/#9 shows (Fr/Gd). This is a rarely seen partial set of this classic Exhibit Supply Company issue. Total: 52 cards.   Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $720
