1887 N184 W. S. Kimball Champions SGC-Graded Near-Complete Set (48/50)

Near-complete set of forty-eight cards (out of fifty) from the N184 W. S. Kimball Champions highlighted by the inclusion of all four baseball players featured in the set. Missing only Oakley and Sullivan for completion. Every card in this set is graded and encapsulated by SGC. Kimballs are considered by many to be one of the most beautiful of all the nineteenth-century tobacco issues. The set features champions and stars of the day from a wide variety of sports. Although the baseball players featured in the set are not Hall of Famers, each was a very popular star at the time. SGC Grading Composite: One EX 60: Jordan. One VG/EX+ 55: Kane. Three VG/EX 50: Cockburn, Murphy, and Webb. Five VG+ 45: Casey, Hamilton, Myers, Perry, and Smith. Seven VG 40: Boynton, Blondin, Cardiff, Hanlan, McLaughlin, Muller, and Rowe. Two GOOD+ 35: O’Neil (baseball) and Wood. Fifteen GOOD 30: Beardsley, Burch (baseball), Dempsey, Freeman, Heins, Morsler, Paulsen, Ross, Schaefer, Schloss, Smith, Wallace, Warren, Wessels, and Whistler. Ten FAIR 20: Darling (baseball), Ferrell, George, Henderson (baseball), Humphrey, McPherson, Muldoon, Murphy, O’Leary, and Page. Two POOR 10: Blatt and George. Two Authentic: Beach and Stewart. This is an outstanding and rarely offered complete set (minus just two cards) of N184 Kimball "Champions," one of the most highly regarded and classic of all nineteenth-century tobacco issues.
