1929 R316 Kashin Publications Lou Gehrig

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,440

Graded EX/NM+ 82 by SGC. Only two examples grade higher! Extremely attractive high-grade large-format card (3.5 x 4.5 inches) featuring Gehrig in a classic batting pose. Gehrig, of course, is one of the key cards to the distinctively designed 101-card R316 set. Crisp and clean, both front and back, with four strong corners, flawless picture quality, and near-perfect centering. Clean blank reverse. Issued during the short window of time between the strip cards of the early 1920s and the colorful bubble-gum cards of the early 1930s, this card has always been appreciated for its powerful image of Gehrig.  Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,440
