1927 Exhibits Lou Gehrig

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $840

Presented is an example of New York Yankees Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig, one of the key cards to the 1927 Exhibits set. All Exhibit cards of Gehrig are highly prized, but the fact that this card was issued in the key year of 1927 naturally gives this Gehrig card an additional appeal. The 1927 Exhibits (3-3/8 x 5-3/8 inches) have a green tint and are blank-backed. Gehrig is pictured in a full-length batting pose, ideally the exact same pose used for his 1925 Exhibits rookie card. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA, the card has a clean, crisp image, with even wear to the corners and a small surface crease to the right of the image. The blank reverse displays moderate toning and two small areas of paper loss. This is a relatively affordable example of this very desirable Lou Gehrig card, dating from the height of the Yankees' unprecedented glory.   Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $840
