1914 E145 Cracker Jack #144 Jimmy Walsh

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $960

Graded VG-EX+ 4.5 by PSA. High-grade example of #144 Jimmy Walsh (Philadelphia Athletics) from the 1914 Cracker Jack #144 series. As can easily be seen, this example presents far better than suggested by its assigned grade. Well-centered with four strong corners showing light touches of wear (slightly more in the upper right). Free of any creases or wrinkles. This card is bright and clean with a bold red background and extremely light caramel staining visible near the top right corner (far less than is normally encountered with #144 series cards). The 1914 Cracker Jacks, of course, are far rarer to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts, because the 1914 #144 series cards were only issued in boxes of Cracker Jack. The #144 Jimmy Walsh card, being the last card in the set, is also all the more difficult to find in high grade since when cards were stacked in numerical order, top and bottom cards were naturally subject to more wear. This is a superb example from this classic set that would make an outstanding addition to any high-quality 1914 Cracker Jack set or prewar-card collection.  Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $960
