1914 E145 Cracker Jack #68 Honus Wagner
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,600
Graded VG 3 by PSA. The 1914 Cracker Jack is understandably one of Honus Wagner's most striking and popular cards. The "Flying Dutchman" is one of the big three key cards in the set, along with Cobb and Jackson. This card is well centered, with outstanding color, perfect registration, an extremely bold red background, and even rounding to the four corners. Faint traces of caramel staining on both front and back (far less than usually found on #144 series cards). The 1914 Cracker Jacks, of course, are far rarer to find in high grade than their 1915 counterparts, because the 1914 #144 series cards were only issued in boxes of Cracker Jack. This card would be a highlight addition to any collection of Cracker Jack, Honus Wagner, or vintage Hall of Fame cards. This is an exceptionally attractive mid-grade example of one of prewar-card collecting's most popular and classic cards. The SMR value in the assigned grade is $3,500. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $3,600
