1909-1911 T206 White Borders SGC-Graded Southern Leaguer Collection (6) - All Brown Hindu Backs!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,560

Presented is a collection of six different Southern Leaguers from the T206 White Border set, each graded by SGC and each featuring the very scarce Brown Hindu advertising reverse. Brown Hindu is a very scarce back, not as rare as Red Hindu, but very unusual and extremely rare compared to most other T206 advertising backs. Thirty-four of the forty-eight Southern Leaguers can be found with a Brown Hindu reverse. All thirty-four are presented in this auction in a series of different lots. This collection consists of the following: Bill Bernhard - Nashville (POOR 10), Roy Ellam - Nashville (POOR 10), James Lafitte - Macon (POOR 10), George Manion - Columbia (Authentic; otherwise Gd/Vg), Arch Persons - Montgomery (FAIR 20), and Juan Violat - Jacksonville (FAIR 20, Lionel Carter Collection). Each example ideally features a bold Hindu advertisement, with only Bernhard and Lafitte displaying pencil or ink, respectively, in the advertisement area. This is a very desirable collection of Southern Leaguers from the legendary T206 set with the scarce Brown Hindu tobacco advertisement on the reverse. Total: 6 cards.  Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,560
