1909-1911 T206 White Border Christy Mathewson Portrait

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,200

Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA (submitted by REA). Stunning mid-grade example of one of the three classic poses of Christy Mathewson from the T206 White Border series. The T206 Christy Mathewson portrait pose is one of the most popular of all T206s, and one of the most highly regarded of all Mathewson cards. This is an extremely attractive T206 Mathewson with a very bold portrait image which really "jumps" from the card, and extremely vibrant colors. Centered towards the bottom, with a particularly large top border. Bright and clean, with light wear at the corners. Boldly printed Piedmont advertising reverse, centered to the left with a small age spot near the top. This is an outstanding example of one of prewar-card collecting's most popular cards.  Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,200
