1909-1911 T206 White Border Cy Young Portrait

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,440

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. A very attractive T206 portrait of Cy Young set against a particularly bold green background. This is one of Cy Young's most striking cards and one of the most popular cards in the entire T206 set. The offered card is a remarkably striking example for this Cy Young pose. The colors are bright, and Young’s image is perfectly focused. The shade of green in the background allows for ideal contrast and gives this card particularly strong eye-appeal. The card displays near-perfect centering, with even wear to the four corners. The Sweet Caporal reverse is clean, with a few light, unobtrusive areas of toning. This is an outstanding midgrade example of one of Cy Young’s most highly prized cards from the premier tobacco-card set of the era.  Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,440
