1909-1911 T206 White Border Ray Demmitt - St. Louis Americans Variation

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,560

Graded GOOD+ 2.5 by PSA. The rare Demmitt, St. Louis Americans variation has always been universally recognized as one of the key cards in the T206 White Border set. It is almost always found only in relatively modest grade. Polar Bear was the only company to issue this T206 variation and this fact is directly related to why Demmitt is so difficult to find in high grade. The packaged cards issued with Polar Bear tobacco were not well protected from the accompanying product; thus almost all Demmitt cards have at least some tobacco staining and other condition issues. This example has virtually no staining, but has been downgraded due to creasing in the upper right and lower left corners. Bold colors and centering slightly to the right. We grade this example slightly more conservatively than PSA due to the creasing. A relatively affordable example of one of the rarest cards in the classic T206 White Border set.  Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,560
