1909-1911 T206 White Border Ty Cobb Red Portrait

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,700

Graded VG-EX+ 4.5 by PSA (submitted by REA). Exceptionally attractive example of one of the four classic poses of Ty Cobb from the T206 White Borders series. This card is considered by many collectors to be his single most iconic card, and it is one of the most recognizable and popular of all vintage baseball cards. The offered example is bright and crisp, both front and back, with a deep red background, near-flawless registration, and outstanding centering (slightly to the top). Four strong corners show light, even wear, with a little more to the upper left. Entirely clean Piedmont 350/460 advertisement on the reverse. This is an extremely desirable grade for this classic card, providing a relatively affordable alternative to a far more expensive super high-grade example, while at the same time compromising very little if anything in exceptional overall eye-appeal.  Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,700
