1976-1977 Topps Hockey #213 Bobby Orr SGC-Graded Progressive Proof Collection (10)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $720
Fascinating collection of ten 1976-1977 Topps Hockey cards of #213 Bobby Orr (Chicago Blackhawks), each representing a different stage in the printing process. The entire ten-card progressive-proof set is graded and encapsulated by SGC. This collection of ten rare color progression proof cards is likely unique; they were intended for use by the printer to help check and correct colors prior to printing production quantities. Many collectors are familiar with the color progression proof cards sold by the Topps Vault on eBay, which often bring extremely high prices when offered individually. It is very rare to find a complete "matched set" run of any Topps proof cards, let alone a popular and key Hall of Famer like Bobby Orr. The ten cards all have blank backs, and each features a different color process: 1) yellow, blue, red, and black printing; 2) red and black printing; 3) black printing; 4) yellow, blue, and red printing; 5) blue and red printing; 6) yellow and red printing; 7) red printing; 8) yellow and blue printing; 9) blue printing; and 10) yellow printing. Each of these color combinations represents a step toward the final process with all colors. All the cards are in Nr/Mt-Mt or Mint condition but are encapsulated by SGC as Authentic (this is the only designation assigned to these cards by SGC). An exceptionally rare and fascinating collection of ten Bobby Orr proof cards from this popular Topps hockey set. Total: 10 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $720
