1950 New York Giants Team-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $120
Official National League (Frick) ball signed in either blue or black ink by the following twenty-two members of the 1950 New York Giants: Irvin, Jones, Dark, Rufer, Jansen, Calderone, Maglie, Lohrke, Kennedy, Westrum, Thompson, Mueller, Hansen, Hartung, Weatherly, Koslo, Gilbert, Stanky, Rigney, Thomson, Lockman, and one other (illegible). The signature example of Leo Durocher that appears on the sweet spot is a stamped facsimile (common for Durocher; and please note that this is a period stamp of Durocher's signature made specifically to grace Giants team balls, which makes this aspect particularly interesting in our opinion; apparently "Leo The Lip" was too busy for such mundane niceties. But you know what they say about nice guys). The year, "1950," is written in blue ink on a side panel. Signatures range from "3" to "6," averaging "5." The ball displays a few scattered areas of light discoloration. In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $100. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $120
