1930 Brooklyn Robins Team-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $100, Sold For - $300
Official National League (Heydler) ball signed in black fountain pen by the following twenty members of the 1930 Brooklyn Robins: Lopez (sweet spot, very faint, grading "1"), Picinich, Olson (sweet spot, coach), Elliott, Hendrick, Lee, Moss, Thurston, Dudley, Phelps, DeBerry, Frederick, Herman, Wright, Clark, Flowers, Finn, Slade, Gilbert, and Warner. Signatures range from "1" to "6," averaging "4." The ball is moderately toned, but most of the manufacturer's stampings remain legible. The Yankees were naturally very popular, and fans did everything they could to get signed Yankees team balls in this exciting era. But the dominance of the Yankees and their powerful lineup, which included so many legends, are probably the very factors that make team-signed Dodgers (then known as the Robins) balls from this era much scarcer. Far fewer fans were clamoring for the signatures of the Brooklyn Robins. In fact, we believe this is the first 1930 Brooklyn Robins team ball we have ever auctioned! In Very Good condition overall. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $100. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $300
