1951 Bowman #253 Mickey Mantle Rookie

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,700

Graded VG-EX 4 (MC) by PSA. Very attractive mid-grade example of Mickey Mantle's true rookie card. One of card collecting's greatest classics, Mantle's Bowman rookie card is the key to the 1951 Bowman set, and one of the most popular of all postwar baseball cards. This striking example possesses many of the great qualities of a card graded much higher, including crisp, bold colors, sharp corners showing light touches of wear, and a perfect image, free of any disctracting print lines. It is, however, centered entirely to the top, with no border showing, which is responsible for the miscut qualifier. Despite this, the card maintains a superb overall display value! This is a very appealing mid-grade example of one of Mantle's most desirable and significant cards!  Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,700
