1887 N284 Buchner Gold Coin Tim Keefe and 1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Amos Russie - Incorrect Spelling Variation
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $720
Pair of important nineteenth-century Hall of Famers, each graded by PSA. 1) 1887 N284 Bucher Gold Coin: Tim Keefe (ball in hand). Graded VG 3 (MK). Crisp image and bold colors, with even wear to the corners, outstanding centering, and light soiling on front and back. A small pencil notation on the reverse accounts for the qualifier. 2) 1895 N300 Mayo Cut Plug: Amous Russie (incorrect spelling varaition). Graded Authentic by PSA. Strong photo clarity, even corner wear, centered entirely to the left, with a few tears on front and back revealing white stock below the black borders. Color added to fill in one of these tears on the front prevents the card from grading numerically. Because Rusie's career spanned the years from 1889 to 1901, an era in which few sets were issued, he appears on very few cards. A relatively affordable pairing of important Hall of Famers from two of the nineteenth century's most classic sets. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $720
