1909-1911 T206 White Border SGC-Graded Hall of Fame Collection (11) Including Lajoie and Speaker
Starting Bid - $800, Sold For - $3,900
Collection of eleven very high quality Hall of Famers from the T206 White Borders series. Each is graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). These cards were part of a very substantial, totally untouched collection of 1910-era tobacco cards consigned to this auction (all cards from this collection appear in several lots on the Internet Only section). All have Piedmont backs. This collection consists of the following: Chief Bender/no trees (VG/EX+ 55), Frank Chance/batting (VG/EX+ 55), Frank Chance/yellow background (VG/EX 50), Fred Clarke/holding bat (VG/EX 50), Addie Joss/pitching (VG/EX 50), Addie Joss/portrait (VG/EX 50), Nap Lajoie/throwing (VG/EX+ 55), Rube Marquard/follow-through (VG/EX 50; red figure eight print mark on Marquard's arm, a noted phenomenon with this card), Tris Speaker (VG/EX+ 55), Rube Waddell/throwing (VG/EX+ 55), and Vic Willis/with bat (VG/EX 50). This is an exceptionally attractive collection, comprised exclusively of Hall of Famers in a very desirable condition. The equivalent SMR value in the assigned grades (factoring the five half-grades in at the lower whole-grade level) is $2,880. Total: 11 cards. Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500+. SOLD FOR $3,900
