1911 T205 Gold Border Collection (63) Including Nine SGC-Graded Hall of Famers and Gray (Stats on Back) Variation

Starting Bid - $800, Sold For - $3,000

Collection of sixty-two different (plus one duplicate) 1911 T205 Gold Border cards, highlighted by nine Hall of Famers, including Eddie Collins, Johnny Evers, and Joe Tinker, as well as key variations of Dolly Gray (stats on back) and Lefty Leifield (A.P. on front). These cards were part of a very substantial, totally untouched collection of 1910-era tobacco cards consigned to this auction (all cards from this collection appear in several lots on the Internet Only section). Interestingly, all cards in this collection have a Piedmont advertising reverse (except for one Sweet Caporal). Condition is as follows: six Ex, twelve Vg-Ex, twenty-seven Vg, and eighteen less. We have submitted the nine Hall of Fame cards to be graded by SGC. This collection consists of the following: Abbaticchio, Baker (HOF, VG 40), Barger ("B" on cap), Bransfield, Byrne, Clarke (HOF, EX+ 70), Collins (HOF, mouth closed, EX 60), Devlin, Dickson, Dougherty (white sock), Doyle, Dygert, Egan, Elberfeld, two Evers (HOF, both VG 40), Fletcher, Flynn, Foxen, Fromme, Gaspar, Gibson, Graham (Rustlers), Gray (stats on back, Vg), Groom, Hartsel, Hummel, Jacklitsch, Kroh, Latham (A. Latham on back), Leach, Leifield (A.P. on front, Vg), Livingston, Lobert, Maddox, Magee, Marquard (HOF, VG/EX 50), McBride, McElveen, M. McIntyre (Sweet Caporal), Milan, Moran (no stray line), Murphy, Murray, Needham, Parent, Paskert, Payne, Pelty, Reulbach, Richie, Rucker, Schaefer, Schlei, Schulte, Sharpe, Stone, Street, Tinker (HOF, EX 60), Titus, Wallace (HOF, with cap, EX 60), Wheat (HOF, VG 40), and Wilson. This is a very attractive collection of T205 Gold Borders featuring several notable highlights and representing nearly 30% of a complete set. The equivalent SMR value for just the nine graded cards (factoring in the one half-grade at the lower whole-grade level and not including the 54 non-Hall of Famers!) is $2,005. Total: 63 cards.  Reserve $800. Estimate $1,500/$2,500+. SOLD FOR $3,000
