1953 Bowman Color #59 Mickey Mantle PSA MINT 9

Starting Bid - $5,000, Sold For - $27,000

Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Only one example grades higher out of 1,761 evaluated by PSA to date. Tremendous ultra high-grade example of this classic Mickey Mantle card! Bowman's third Mantle card is regarded by many as its best effort. The card features a magnificent photo of Mantle in his follow-through swing. Mantle looks like a youngster in his Yankees pinstripes (he was twenty-one years old in this photo) and the blue sky provides a perfect backdrop. This is the key card in the set and one of the most elusive cornerstones to any high-grade 1950s Mantle card collection. The offered example is virtually perfect in every way. Crisp and clean, with near-perfect centering, sharp corners, vibrant colors, and a virtually flawless image. This is an extraordinary and simply stunning MINT example of one of Mantle's earliest and most prized cards, which would be a significant highlight in any 1953 Bowman Color set, any high-grade 1950s Mantle card collection, or any world-class collection of vintage classic baseball cards. The SMR value in the assigned grade is $19,500.  Reserve $5,000. Estimate $10,000++. SOLD FOR $27,000
