1970 Topps "Man on the Moon" Unopened Wax Box (24 Packs)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,080
Complete original unopened wax box of 1970 Topps "Man on the Moon" nonsport cards. The box houses twenty-four packs with each pack containing ten cards, for a total of 240 cards. This display box features a colorful illustration of two astronauts exploring the surface of the moon with Earth visible in the background. The set title is boldly printed in yellow. A sticker on the top panel, which reads "Real Photos Of Men On The Moon!," indicates that this box is from the second issue of this popular set, in 1970, after a successful moon landing was completed. The set features the original fifty-five cards from the 1969 issue as well as an additional forty-four new cards. This box comes shrink-wrapped by Baseball Card Exchange (owned by Steve Hart, the foremost expert on unopened material). While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within this box are Mint or Gem Mint examples. The store display box is bright and bold, with only a few minor touches of shelf wear visible against the black background. It otherwise presents exactly as it did on store shelves 45 years ago! This is an outstanding complete unopened wax box from this very popular nonsport issue. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,080
