1964 Topps A & BC Gum "Beatles" Near-Complete Unopened Wax Box (62/72 packs)
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $4,200
Exceptional and very rare near-complete wax box consisting of sixty-two packs (out of seventy-two) from the 1964 Topps A & BC Gum "Beatles" issue. This is a rare box! Each pack contains two cards and a piece of gum. The Beatles, established as worldwide superstars, were the subject of many trading-card sets during the mid-1960s. The cards in these packs were issued in the United Kingdom by A & BC Gum, the international arm of Topps, and are similar in design to the Beatles Black-and-White cards issued in the states but are slightly smaller in size. The packs are in overall Nr/Mt condition, with a few lesser due to tiny tears at the corners. The seal on three of the packs has loosened entirely. The original display box presents in overall Excellent condition, with black-and-white portraits of George, John, Paul, and Ringo on the top panel set against a brilliant red background. Light creasing is visible along the top panel, and one of the joints on the back panel displays an almost-complete tear. The Beatles are always a popular focus among collectors, making this substantial near-complete box of rarely seen wax packs especially desirable. Total: 62 packs and display box.
