1938 R69 Gum, Inc. "Horrors of War" #183 "Loyalists Open Flood Gates" PSA MINT 9 - 1 of 2 - Highest Graded!

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $840

Graded MINT 9 by PSA. Highest-graded example and one of only two examples graded at this level! Extraordinary ultra high-grade 1938 "Horrors of War" bubble gum card #183, entitled “Loyalists Open Flood Gates to Check Rebels," issued by Gum, Inc. The detailed artwork on this card depicts the destruction of insurgent pontoon bridges by loyalist defenders, resulting in dozens of men floundering in the waters while others attempt to stage a rescue. The card image is crisp and bold, with four razor-sharp corners and perfect centering. To date, only approximately one percent of all "Horrors of War" cards graded by PSA has ever achieved a grade of MINT or better. We have found that at auction cards from extremely popular sets with very low populations in the highest grades often sell for far more than the assigned book value, and this is especially the case with classic vintage sets. This is an exceptional 1938 "Horrors of War" card worthy of the world's finest complete set or nonsport-card collection.  Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $840
